Raising a price sounds like the easy part. Then you realize you want it to happen at a specific moment, maybe when an intro offer ends or a new season starts, and you are back to setting a reminder and editing products by hand at the exact time.

Shopify can schedule a discount for you. It cannot schedule a plain price increase. Those are two different things, and the gap catches a lot of stores off guard.

Why Shopify won't schedule a price increase for you

Shopify's native scheduling covers a product's publish date and a discount's start and end dates. That is it. A discount is a temporary markdown that turns on and off on a timer. A price increase is a change to the actual product price, and there is no built-in setting to make that happen at a future date.

So if you want a price to go from $29 to $39 at midnight on the first, your native options are:

  • Sit down at midnight and edit the product yourself.
  • Edit it early and hope no one buys at the new price before you meant to raise it.

Neither is great, and both get worse the more products you are raising.

Note

A price you edit by hand also does not roll back on its own. If you raise a price for a week and want it to drop later, Shopify will not undo it for you. You have to remember and do it again.

Schedule the price change to the exact minute

This is where an app like Schedule It fills the gap. It runs a real price change on a timer, server-side, so the new price goes live at the moment you set without you touching anything.

  1. Install Schedule It and create a new automation.
  2. Add a Price change action.
  3. Pick what it applies to: a single product, a variant, or your whole catalog.
  4. Set the new price as a fixed amount or a percentage change.
  5. Set the date and time it should take effect.
  6. Save it and walk away.

At that minute, the price updates. No reminder, no you at the keyboard. If you are raising prices across a lot of products at once, you select them in one automation instead of editing each one.

Make it revert on its own

Not every price increase is permanent. Maybe you are testing a higher price for a week, or bumping prices during a busy period and dropping them after. For that, set an end time and turn on auto-revert.

With an end time, Schedule It captures the original price when the change runs, then writes it back when the window closes. The price goes up at your start time and returns to where it was at your end time, on its own.

Tip

Auto-revert reads the price that was live right before the change, so the rollback is exact. You do not have to record the old number anywhere. Set the start, set the end, done.

A few ways stores use this

  • Ending an intro price. Launch at a low price, then schedule the increase for the day the intro ends so no one gets the deal a minute longer than you planned.
  • Tiered launch pricing. Start a drop at one price and step it up on a set schedule as demand builds.
  • Temporary increases. Raise prices during a peak window and let them revert after, without babysitting it.
  • Catalog-wide adjustments. Apply a percentage increase across the whole catalog at a set time instead of editing products one by one.

Schedule It works on every Shopify plan, including Basic, so scheduling a price change does not require Shopify Plus. There is a free plan, so you can test the timing on one product before you run it across the store. See the pricing for what each plan includes.
